Nomination for Clearly Music: 16th annual HMMAs
We couldn’t be more thrilled to discover yesterday afternoon that we had been nominated for “Best Music Supervision in A Feature Film” in this year’s Hollywood Music In Media Awards for our work on “Winter Spring Summer or Fall” (Paramount).
Believe it or not, there aren’t very many award opportunities for Music Supervisors. We aren’t eligible for Oscars or Golden Globes… A few years ago, the TV Academy allowed us to join their ranks, so we have The Emmys. Apart from that, there are the Guild of Music Supervisor Awards and the HMMA’s, and that’s pretty much it. It’s always nice to have your efforts recognized, especially in such a behind-the-scenes role, so we are very much looking forward to hanging out with our industry peers at the HMMAs this year. We’re certainly in great company.
“Winter Spring Summer or Fall” was a delight to work on despite its hurdles, and that is largely due to director Tiffany Paulsen, who gave us so much creative freedom with the soundtrack. Tiffany has a strong creative vision but she also loves new ideas, and that’s really the best combination.
We loved collaborating with our composer Zac Rae (Death Cab For Cutie) and the featured artist, Evangeline, whom we cast in the film to play her original songs. Music really got to be the backbone of this production, even from the script stage, and those are always our favorite projects.
